User ID: X639. Elizabeth married Alexander SINCLAIR of Dunbeath, son of Sir William SINCLAIR 2nd Earl of Caithness and Mary KEITH.1 (Alexander SINCLAIR of Dunbeath was born about 1490.) Marriage Notes: "Alexander Sinclair, who in a Crown charter of 18 July 1527 is called ' brother ' of John, Earl of Caithness.' On 2 November 1529, he, designed of Stamster, had a Crown charter to himself and Elizabeth Innes, his spouse, of the lands of Dunbeith, Raa, and Sandside, in the sheriffdom of Inverness, on the resignation of Alexander Innes, son and heir of Alexander Innes of that Ilk, incorporating the lands in the free barony of Dunbeath. Another Crown charter was granted to him and his spouse of the same lands 11 January 1529-30. He married Elizabeth Innes, and was Elizabeth next married Arthur FORBES of Balfour, 'black Arthur', son of John FORBES 6th Lord Forbes and Elizabeth BARLOW, by May 1554.2 (Arthur FORBES of Balfour, 'black Arthur' was born about 1518 and died on 10 October 1571 in Battle of Tillyangus, Clatt, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 3.) Marriage Notes: "Letters of bailiary by Elizabeth Innes, lady of Dunbeitht (Dunbeath), and Arthur Forbes of Balfour, her spouse, appointing George, Earl and Catnes (Caithness), their bailie of the lands of Ray, Sandside and S[...]re with the mains of Dunbe, within the bounds of Caithness.
