"On 8 July 1468 he (William Forbes) had a charter from the Earl of Huntly, his father-in-law, of the lands of Abergardene and others, for his manrent, etc. On same date he gave bond of manrent for himself and his heirs in the lordship of Forbes to Alexander, Earl of Huntly, and George, Lord Gordon, his son."
