Christina married James GRANT 3rd of Freuchie 'the Bold', son of John GRANT 2nd of Freuchie, 'Am Bard Ruadh', 'The Red Bard' and Margaret OGILVY.1 (James GRANT 3rd of Freuchie 'the Bold' was born about 1487, died on 26 August 1553 1 and was buried in 1553 in Duthil Parish, Invernesshire, Scotland 1.)

  Marriage Notes:

"There is no clear evidence as to the marriage or marriages of this Laird of Freuchie. That he married early in the century is proved by the fact that his son and heir, John Grant, was himself married in 1539, or before it. That the Laird married a lady named Christina Barclay, who survived him, is also proved by her being named as his relict, and entering into an agreement with the executor as to terce, etc.

Who Christina Barclay was has not been ascertained from any document in the Grant charter-chest. In Mr. Chapman's account of the family of Grant, Isobel Barclay, daughter to the Baron of Towie, is said to be the second wife of John Grant of Freuchie, son of James Grant of Freuchie, and she is claimed as their ancestress by the family of Grant of Monymusk. That John Grant of Freuchie had no such wife will be shown in the next memoir ; but the above tradition, though erroneous in detail, may indicate that Christina Barclay, as she was undoubtedly the wife of James Grant of Freuchie, was his second wife.

It is probable also that she was the mother of Archibald Grant in Balhntomb, who in 1581 is described as brother of John Grant of Freuchie, and who must have been much younger than his brother. As he was the ancestor of the family of Monymusk, this would agree with their tradition."

from Chiefs of Grant 1

Christina next married Arthur FORBES of Balfour, 'black Arthur', son of John FORBES 6th Lord Forbes and Elizabeth BARLOW, after 19 May 1554.2 (Arthur FORBES of Balfour, 'black Arthur' was born about 1518 and died on 10 October 1571 in Battle of Tillyangus, Clatt, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 3.)
