The phrasing above suggests that William Gordon, placed as first son on page 23 of
Gordons of Cairnfield, had already died by 21 August 1770, but the inventory was given up on 30 April 1783 and William's will was only confirmed on 16 May 1783, his sister Jean being the executrix.




"John Gordon, mariner, London, benefited under the settlement of Captain John Thomson, Aberdeen, in 1776. He was probably father of :

- Thomas Gordon in London, who was served heir to his grandfather, Thomas Gordon of Coynach, physician in Peterhead, Dec. 8. 1798."
