Note:

This is an error. Mr John Forbes who became Professor of Divinity at Aberdeen in 1620 was the second son of Bishop Patrick Forbes. He was followed in office by Andrew Strachan in 1634. Having succeeded to the family estate of his father in 1635, he took up the professorship again for a time until he was deposed in 1641. ^{1 2 3}
