William married Elizabeth STRACHAN, daughter of Sir John STRACHAN of Thornton and Margaret LIVINGSTON.¹ (Elizabeth STRACHAN was born about 1540.)

  Marriage Notes:

"On the 6th November 1562, Patrick Forbes of Corse obtained confirmation of a charter, by which he granted the lands of Kyncragy in liferent to Elizabeth, daughter of John Strachan of Thornton (Privy Seal Register, vol, xxxi., fol. 112)" (page 32)

Note:

The above source states later on page 36, referring to the daughter of John Strachan's son, Alexander Strachan, that

"Elizabeth married William Forbes of Corse, Aberdeenshire."

Patrick Forbes 5th Laird of Corse, Elizabeth's son, was born in 1564, and another son, William Forbes of Menie was born about 1566, so their mother must have been born in 1550 or earlier. This scenario is incompatible with Elizabeth being the daughter of Alexander Strachan.

Alexander Strachan did have a daughter Elizabeth who married William Blackhall of that Ilk. ^{2 3}
