Marriage Notes: "On the death of his elder brother Sir Colin, in 1640, he (Robert Campbell) succeeded him, and is stated to have been then sixty-one years of age. He was M.P. for Argyllshire 1639-41, 1643-44, and 1644-49, Sir Robert became involved in financial difficulties, and several of his creditors took possession of his estates. He died 17 November 1657, aged eighty-two. He married Isabel, daughter of Lachlan Mackintosh of Dunnachton, captain of Clan Chattan (contract 16 December 1605), and had issue" |
