"Sibbald, in his History of Fife, designs the next laird by the name of Andrew. Sibbald seems to have had access to information not now available, and can be proved to be correct in various matters concerning the Wardlaws. Andrew Wardlaw of Wilton married 'Christian de Valoniis, daughter and heiress of Sir James de Valoniis, Knight, Lord of Inchgalle,' and of Christian, his wife. Christian de Valoniis brought great possessions to the Wardlaws, which included the barony of Wester Lochore, the lands and barony of Torrie, and one-third part of the lands of Rossyth."

Nisbet says 'Valange, or Valoniis, of Torry, married one of the co-heirs of the Lord of Loquhoir, and got with her the barony of Inchgall, as in the genealogical tree of the Boswells of Balmuto, who (sic) married another of the co-heirs of Loquhoir. Valange of Torry ended in heiresses, the eldest of whom married Wardlaw ; he got with her the lands of Torry and quartered the arms of Valange (three water budgetts).' "
