  General Notes:

The Auchinleck estate at Auchinleck in Ayrshire.

.... It became clear that the main focus for the Trust was the Boswell family connection with the building, having been erected between 1755 and 1760 by Alexander Boswell, the 8th Laird of Auchinleck. He had been made a Judge of the Court of Session in 1754 and had taken the nonhereditary title, Lord Auchinleck. As the Saga reveals, the former Baronial estate had been granted by James IV to Thomas Boswell of Balmuto in Fife in 1505 whose wife was a member of the original Baronial family."
