  General Notes:

Alexr. Nisbet, Isabella's father who had been present where the birth occurred, gave notice of her birth at Edinburgh on 24 March 1875 before the registrar, John Minto.

Isabella was one of the youngest of her family to be recorded living at 5 Brown Street Edinburgh by the 1881 census. She was aged 6 and had been born in St Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh. She was at school.

In 1891 Isabella Nisbet was recorded by the census for Edinburgh living at 5 Brown Street, her family home, which her sister, Eleanor, and her husband Henry McKeen, now ran, as pseudo parents, after the death of Alexander and Isabella Nisbet. Isabella was 16 years old and worked as a photographer's assistant. She had been born in Edinburgh.

The 1901 census for Leith recorded Ellen Adams, a wife with a daughter, though her husband is not named in the entry, living at 13 Henderson Street with her mother Mary Haims and a cousin "Jane" Nisbet. Ellen was a dressmaker who worked on her own account at home. She was 29 years old and had been born in Edinburgh. Her daughter Mary was 3 years old and had been born in Leith. Mary Haims was 62 years old and born in Edinburgh. Both Mary and Ellen were recorded as married. "Jane" Nisbet, as the entry has it, was probably Ina Nisbet -Isabella Sandilands Nisbet- daughter of Isabella Haimes and Alexander Nisbet. Ina married from this address in 1902. The census recorded her as single, 25 years old, an assistant in a boot shop, and born in Edinburgh.

In 1941 Alexandrina Isabella Hadden died. Her death certificate recorded her as aged 60 years and married to Robert Stevenson Hadden, marine engineer. Her parents were deceased. 2 3 4 5

  Medical Notes:

Pollok Donald MB certified the cause of death.

James Hadden, son of the deceased woman, of 164 Great Junction Street, Leith, gave notice of his mother's death before the registrar, Geo. D. McCulloch, at Leith on 30 January 1941. 3

Isabella married Robert Stevenson HADDEN, son of James HADDEN and Eliza BROWN, on 28 June 1902 in 35 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh, Scotland.1 (Robert Stevenson HADDEN was born on 27 May 1881 in Leith South parish, Midlothian, Scotland 6 and died in 1954 in Lauder, Berwickshire, Scotland 3 7.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place by Declaration in the presence of John Reid, Engineer, and Helen Reid of 58 Henderson Street, Leith. The Warrant of the Sheriff Substitute of the Lothians and Peebles was dated 21 July 1902.

Robert S. Hadden was a 23 year old engineer living at 2 George Place, Leith. He was a single man. His mother was deceased.

Ina Nisbet was single and aged 22 years. She lived at 13 Henderson Street, Leith. The certificate recorded her father as deceased, and her mother's name as Alexandrina Nisbet, maiden surname Haimes.

The marriage was registered at Edinburgh on 21 July 1902, the registrar being William Mallon. 1
