User ID: M310. General Notes: "Robert (Maxwell), second Lord Maxrwell, was served heir to his father in the lands of Carlaverock, 14 February 1453-54. As Admiral and Warden of the Marches he was a conservator of truces with England in 1457 and 1459. Though of the party of the Boyds in the minority of James III., he attended Parliament in November 1469, when the Boyds were condemned." Robert married Janet FORRESTER, daughter of Sir John FORRESTER of Corstorphine and Jean SINCLAIR, before 4 February 1424(1425).1 2 (Janet FORRESTER was born about 1412 and died after 1488 2.) Marriage Notes: "Janet (Forrester), married to Robert, afterwards second Lord Maxwell. On 13 January 1424-25 her husband and she had a grant of the lands of Libbertoun, in the barony of Carnwath. She was living in 1488." |
