William married Margaret WARDLAW, daughter of Sir Andrew WARDLAW 4th of Wilton, then of Torry and Christian DE VALLONIIS heiress of Torry, Fife, by 23 March 1432(1433) (charter).1 2 (Margaret WARDLAW was born about 1416 and died after 16 October 1483 2.)

"Most probably the following were also children of Andrew Wardlaw and Christian Valoniis ....

Margaret, married to William Maitland of Lethington and Thirlestane. He had a charter from Archibald, Duke of Touraine and Earl of Douglas, to himself and Margaret Wardlaw, his wife, of sundry lands, dated at Linlithgow 23 March 1432-3, his father being then alive. Margaret Wardlaw is mentioned 16 October 1483."
