His second wife was Agnes, daughter (by Margaret Stewart, illegitimate daughter of King James IV.) of Sir John Drummond of Innerpeffray, and widow of Sir Hugh Campbell of Loudoun; their contract of marriage was signed at Innerpeffray 8 June 1562, and they were married before 10 August 1562, when they received a dispensation for the fact from Archbishop Hamilton. The date of the marriage is not stated, but they may have been married before the date of the divorce by Knox, a curious conflict between the old and new ecclesiastical authorities.
