  General Notes:

The 1861 census for Haddington recorded the Haimes family living there. Jane Haimes was recorded as 31 years of age and her birthplace was Haddington. She had two daughters and a son.

Jane Haimes was recorded by the 1881 census living with her husband and her three sons at 21 Market Street, Haddington. Her age was recorded as 47 years and her place of birth as Prestonpans, Haddingtonshire.

When Jane Haimes died in 1897, her death certificate recorded her as widow of George Haimes, tailor. Her recorded age at death was 64 years. Both of her parents were deceased. 2

The cause of death was certified by J. G. Wallace James MB CM.

Essie Haimes, daughter of the deceased, who was present, gave notice of her mother's death before the registrar, T. M. Meekin, at Haddington onMay 31 1897. 2


Jane married George HAIMES, son of George HAIMES Hairdresser, DNA Linked and Helen TAIT (DNA Linked), on 10 November 1854 in Prestonkirk, East Lothian, Scotland. (George HAIMES was born on 28 March 1828 in Edinburgh parish, Edinburgh, Scotland, baptised on 28 April 1828 in Edinburgh parish, Edinburgh, Scotland 7 and died in 1889.)
