In 1851 Helen Ballantyne and her children John, Andrew, Janet and Thomas were living in Carlisle Road, Chapelhall in the Holytown district of Bothwell parish Lanarkshire.

When she died in 1861 at the recorded age of 57 years Helen Ballantyne was recorded in her death certificate as married to Thomas Ballantyne coal miner. Her parents were deceased.

When Thomas Ballantine died, at the recorded age of 57 years, in 1863 he was recorded as "Coalminer, Widower of Helen Ballantine". 3 5 7 12

  Medical Notes:

Thomas Ballantyne, Helen's husband who was not present where she died, was the informant of her death before the registrar at Holytown on 26 February 1861. 5


Helen married Thomas BALLANTYNE (DNA Linked), son of John BALLANTINE and Margaret CLARK (DNA Linked), on 5 December 1828 in Tynron parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland.1 2 (Thomas BALLANTYNE (DNA Linked) was born on 19 September 1807 in Tynron parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland 14 15 16, baptised on 27 September 1807 in Tynron parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland 16 and died on 7 June 1863 in Chapelhall, Holytown district, Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland 5 12.). The cause of his death was ulceration of stomach and liver over several years.5
