In some presentations of this family, the Capuchin monk, John Forbes, the son of John Forbes and Lady Margaret Gordon, is not counted as the 9th Lord Forbes. This has the effect of putting all the following Lord Forbes one place out in their designation.

William married Jean CAMPBELL, daughter of Sir John CAMPBELL 4th of Cawdor (Calder) and Jean CAMPBELL, in 1648.¹ (Jean CAMPBELL was born about 1625 and died on 10 December 1666 ¹.)
