  General Notes:

The 1861 census for Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland, recorded John O'Niel [sic] as the head of a household living in Mossend village. With John lived his wife, Sarah, their four young children, John's mother, Mary and a 22 year old Irish born lodger. The second youngest child listed, Elisabeth O'Niel, was recorded as 2 years of age and had been born in Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Another child of this family was called Elizabeth in 1862, suggesting that this child died at a young age before then. 1
