David married Marjory SCOTT, daughter of David SCOTT 3rd of Scotstarvit and Nicola GRIERSON, 31 January 1688(contract).1 2 (Marjory SCOTT was baptised on 25 August 1670 in Ceres parish, Fife, Scotland 3 and died on 8 April 1746 in Scone Abbey, Perthshire, Scotland 2.)

"Nicolas Grierson, was married to David Scott of Scotstarvit, and left an only child Marjory, by whose marriage with David, fifth Viscount of Stormont, the Murrays of Cockpool are lineally represented in the present Earl of Mansfield, proprietor of Comlongan."

"David (Murray), fifth Viscount Stormont and Lord Scone, third Lord Balvaird, was retoured heir of his father 7 October 1668, and 9 July 1669 .... He strongly opposed the Treaty of Union ; was one of those cited to appear at Edinburgh for suspected participation in the '15 rising, but not obeying the summons, was sentenced to a year's imprisonment and a fine of £500. He died 19 November 1731 at Comlongan, having married (contract dated 31 January 1688) Marjory, only daughter of David Scott of Scotstarvet, by Nicolas his wife, only daughter of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag, by Margaret his wife, eldest daughter and heir-portioner of Sir James Murray of Cockpool, and heir of line of the Murrays of Cockpool and Earls of Annandale. By her, who died at Scone 8 April 1746, he had issue six sons and eight daughters"
