James married Mary KER, daughter of Sir Robert KER Lord Roxburghe, then Earl of Roxburghe and Margaret MAITLAND, 18 February 1629(contract).1 2 (Mary KER was born about 1602 and died in April 1650 in Leuchars, Fife Scotland 2.)

James next married Janet ADAMSON about 1661.2 (Janet ADAMSON was born about 1620 and died in June 1683 2.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Lord Southesk married, secondly, about 1661, Janet Adamson, who on 9 April of that year was infeft in a liferent of the lands of Leuchars. By her, who died in June 1683, he had no issue."
