Catherine married Gilbert HAY 11th Earl of Erroll, son of William HAY 10th Earl of Erroll, High Constable of Scotland and Anne LYON, on 7 January 1658 in Kinnaird, Gowrie, Perthshire, Scotland.1 2 The marriage ended in divorce. (Gilbert HAY 11th Earl of Erroll was born on 13 June 1631 1 and died in 1674 1.)


  Marriage Notes:

"He (Gilbert Hay) married at Kinnaird, 7 January 1658, Catherine, youngest daughter of James, second Earl of Southesk, but by her had no issue. She survived him, and was in 1689 chief governess to Prince James Francis, Prince of Wales, at St. Germain, where she died 3 October 1693, aged fifty-six."

"Catherine, married to Gilbert, Earl of Erroll, 7 January 1658. Her tocher was 50 or 60 thousand merks. There was no issue of this marriage. He divorced her. She was chief Governess to James, Prince of Wales, at St. Germains, at the time of her death in October 1693."
