Andrew married Elizabeth CARNEGIE, daughter of David CARNEGIE Earl of Southesk, Lord Carnegie of Kinnaird and Leuchars and Margaret LINDSAY, 30 April 1628(contract).1 2 (Elizabeth CARNEGIE was born about 1611.)

"Sir Andrew Murray of Balvaird, second son of David M. of Binn, and Agnes, daugh. of Sir William Moncreiffe of Moncreiffe ; educated at Univ. of St Andrews; M.A. (1618); pres. by his grandfather David, Viscount Stormont, in May, and adm. 1st Oct. 1622 ; succeeded his grandfather in the baronies of Arngask and Kippo 27th Aug. 1631 ; was knighted at the Coronation of Charles I. 18th June 1633; signed the National Covenant in 1638 ; attended (though not a member) the Glasgow Assembly of that year and was so useful in settling differences, that on the report of the Lord High Commissioner (James, Marquess of Hamilton), the King created him Lord Balvaird 17th Nov. 1641. As a peer he attended the Convention of the Estates, which the Assembly, 10th Aug. 1643, decided was wrong and ordered him to desist attending Parliament under pain of deposition. He succeeded to the barony of Stormont, but not to the title, on the death of the second Viscount in March 1642. He died 24th Sept. 1644, aged about 47. He marr. (cont. dated 30th April 1628) Lady Elizabeth Carnegie, daugh. of David, first Earl of Southesk, and Margaret Lindsay, and had issue - David, second Lord Balvaird, who succeeded as fourth Viscount Stormont and Lord Scone, died 14th July 1668 ; Sir Andrew of Murrayshall, died Dec. 1705 ; James, M.D., Perth, died 1682 ; John of Drumcairne, Lord Drumcairne, app. Senator of the College of Justice, 14th Oct. 1681, died about 1704; William, advocate, buried 8th Feb. 1685; Katherine ; Marjory (marr. 10th June 1651, Sir Alexander Gibson of Durie) died at Perth, 6th Aug. 1661 ; Barbara (marr.
