  General Notes:

"So why do I believe that Sir James Falconer of Phesdo, is the son of .... John Falconer of Tulloch & Phesdo, Warden of the Mint?

a) The Register of the Privy Council, S3 V7, p44 says: 'The Lords understanding that the Lairds of Leyes, Halgreen, Balmaine and Glenbervie are deceased, and that John Falconer of Phaesdo is an old infirm man, they nominate and appoint in their stead as justices commissioners of excise and justices of peace in Kincardineshire the present Lairds of Leyes, Halgreen, Balmain and Glenbervy in place of their fathers deceased and Mr James Falconer now of Phaesdo in place of his father.' (1681)

b) '(61) Unsigned copy discharge by Charles, earl of Lauderdale, and Richard, Lord Maitland, generals of the Mint, of all claims against Sir John Falconar [Falconer], late master, Mr James Falconar, son and heir to deceased John Falconar, late warden, and the rest of the late officers of the Mint, (1684).'   Marriage Notes:

"Another thing noted in passing while going through the Arbuthnot Inventory:
