General Notes: "LUMSDEN Rachell married William LUMSDEN of Harlaw, son of William LUMSDEN in Stonebridges, Kildrummy, then tacksman in Titaboutie and Jean GORDON.1 2 (William LUMSDEN of Harlaw was born about 1700, died in February 1758 in Mid-Clova, Lumsden, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 1 4 and was buried in 1758 in Kildrummy Churchyard, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.) Marriage Notes: "He (William Lumsden) married his cousin, Rachel Lumsden of Harlaw, and had by her two sons and three daughters. What his profession was I do not exactly know, but there is a letter from him to Harry Lumsden of Cushnie, dated London, 25th December, 1743, in which he says that he is just starting for the East Indies (he does not say in what capacity) in the Beaufort, Captain Steuard, and asking Harry to persuade his wife 'to go into the country, as it would help her to pass some of her lonesome time in the term of my voyage.'
