Note: It is fairly certain from circumstantial evidence that the father's given name, transcibed here as Fred, is an error, either on the part of the original clerk or of the transcriber.

The 1841 census for Glasgow St Mungo, Lanarkshire, recorded Maryan Vally living with her family in Drygate Street. She was recorded as 7 years of age, the middle child of five children, and had been born in Ireland.

In 1851 Mary Ann Valley was recorded living with her family at 4 Parliamentary Road Glasgow. She had been born in Ireland and was 17 years old. She worked as a factory spinner.

The 1871 census for Port Glasgow recorded Mary Ann Wilson living in Port Glasgow with her husband and six children aged 1 year to 16 years. She was recorded as 33 years of age and had been born in Ireland.

Mary Ann was recorded as 65 years old at the time of her death in 1900. She was married to James Wilson, labourer. 3 4 6 7

Maggie Wilson, daughter of the deceased who was present where the death occurred, gave notice of her death. 3


Mary married James WILSON on 3 January 1853 in St Mungo's RC Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland.1 2 (James WILSON was born about 1835 in Ireland 7 and died after 22 December 1900 1 3.)

Banns of Marriage were recorded on 12 December 1852.

The couple were married by father Archibald Chisholm. The witnesses were James O'Farrel and Hellen Vallely. 2
