General Notes: "James Stewart, natural son of James, Earl of Buchan, by Margaret Murray, had a legitimation under the Great Seal 20 February 1488-89, and a charter from his father, 18 May 1491, of the lands of Traquair to himself and the heirs-male of his body, whom failing, to his brother-german (sic) Alexander, a liferent of the lands being reserved to his mother Margaret Murray."
