"The year of our Lord 1688 the 15 of June was born Alex^r son of M^r John Gordon of Seaton a protestant and of M^rs Bettie Irvine Catholick husband and wife who was baptized in the protestant manner by M^r John Keith Minister of Old Abd q^r the said M^r John Gordon liveth. The same day JRT SP at the desyre of the sd M^rs Bettie and of her Catholick Relations gave the said Child the Cermonies used in the Catholick Church the Godfather was M^r Alex^r Irvin of Lairny and the God mother was Margaret Adie wife to Richard Irvine of Cornfeild both of the paroch of St Nicolas of Abd in testimony q^rof I have writen and sub^tt y^s as ane authentick copie of q^t I did formerly at Abd the 16 of dec^r 1693"

Son of John Gordon of Seaton, sometime civilist, King's Coll., and Elizabeth Irvine, his wife. Born 15th June, 1688. Educated at Grammar School, Aberdeen; Alumnus, Mar. Coll., 1704-8. App. to Alexander Thomson (1680). Commissary Clerk Depute. Treasurer of the Society of Advocates, 1720-21. Married, 21st July, 1716, Marjory, dau. of James Milne of Blairton, with issue :

1. Alexander.

2. Richard, buried 19th September, 1725.

3. John, buried 21st September, 1725.

1. Elizabeth, buried 29th August, 1725.

2. Janet, buried 21st September, 1725.

Died January, 1727."

"Gordon, Alexander, Commissary Clerk Depute, Aberdeen

Second son of John Gordon, 2nd of Seaton and Elizabeth Irvine his wife. Born in 1688, he married Marjory, daughter of James Milne of Blairton, and had three sons and two daughters. He died in 1727."
