CARMICHAEL, Elspet 1 2 3

  • Born: 10 June 1839 1 2
  • Baptised: 12 June 1839, Tomintoul RC parish, Banffshire, Scotland 3

Another name for Elspet was CARMICHAEL, Elizabeth.4

  General Notes:

"Elspeth (sometimes referred to as Elizabeth) had intended to become a Carmelite nun but was prevented from fulfilling this ambition due to an accident which left her an invalid and confined to a wheelchair. (Family tradition rather dramatically has it that she was crushed by a cow). However, on her death, permission was given for Elspeth to be buried in the habit of the Carmelites, despite having never officially entered the order."
