  General Notes:

James McCormick was illegitimate. He was brought up in a house opposite the miners' welfare in Cleland, Lanarkshire. Later he was a coalminer at John Kerr's mine. He moved to Fife when the mine closed. He had five or six children, one of whom was killed in the 1980s in a motorbike accident.
