  General Notes:

Anthony McConwell was recorded by the 1851 census for Bothwell Parish Lanarkshire as the head of the household living in Bo'ness Road, Chapelhall. The household comprised himself, his wife Helen aged 29 years, his daughter Helen, aged 9 years, and his son John, aged 6 years. Anthony worked as an ironmoulder. He was 32 years old and had been born in Ireland, as had his wife. His children were born in Old Monkland parish Lanarkshire.

In 1861 the census for Old Monkland Eastern District recorded Anthony McConville, his wife Helen, and their three children living at 10 Post Office Row. Anthony was recorded as aged 44 years.

In 1864 Anthony McConville gave notice before the registrar at Coatdyke of the death of his 2 year old son William, and made his X mark. He was a furnace labourer by occupation.

In March 1865 Anthony McConvill gave notice of the death of his 18 month old grandson James of measles. he had been present where the death occurred.

In 1867 when his wife died, Anthony was recorded in her death certificate as 'mineral labourer'.

Anthony McConvil was recorded by the 1881 census for Old Monkland living at 40 Old Square. He was a widower, aged 65 years, and had been born in Ireland. He worked as a labourer at the iron works.

When Anthony died in 1888, his death certificate recorded that he was a 'Blast furnace man widower of Ellen Kinney' and that he was aged 68 years. Both of his parents were dead. 1 2 3 10 12

  Medical Notes:

The cause of death was certified by J. Farquhar MD of Coatbridge.

The informant was Ellen Lawson, daughter of the deceased. Her address was recorded as No 10 Shuttle Street or Lane, Glasgow. She gave notice before A. Baird, registrar, at Calderbank on 15 October 1888 and made her X mark.


Anthony married Ellen KINNEY, daughter of Patrick KINNEY and Ellen McKEOWN. (Ellen KINNEY was born about 1821 in Ireland 2 3 12 and died 6 October 1867 at 9.00 pm in Calderbank, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3.). The cause of her death was disease of kidneys over 6 months and dropsy over 2 months.
