Robert married Margaret LUNDIE, daughter of Sir John LUNDIE of that Ilk and Katherine LINDSAY, before 25 April 1648.1 2 (Margaret LUNDIE was born about 1623.)

  Marriage Notes:

"John died in 1647, and was succeeded to Lundie by his daughter Margaret. She had married Robert Maitland, second son of the Earl of Lauderdale, and Robert adopted the name Lundie. Margaret was succeeded by her daughter Sophia Lundin, who was married to John Drummond (later Earl of Melfort), the second son of James Drummond 3rd Earl of Perth. Their children would again take the name Lundin, but three generations later, the surname of Lundin was dropped for Drummond and Lundin was sold. The male descendants of the marriage of Sophia Lundin and John Drummond had become the heirs to the Earldom of Perth, and the sale of Lundin was required to pay the legal fees in obtaining the title and estates."
