   Cause of his death was disease of the hip joints over some years and consumption of unknown duration.¹

William Hames was recorded as a 7 year old by the 1841 census for St John's Haddington. He was 4th eldest child and had been born in East Lothian.

The 1851 census for Haddington, East Lothian, recorded William Haimes living at the home of his parents in the High Street. He was recorded as 16 years of age and born in Haddington.

In 1861 the census for Haddington recorded William Haimes living in his parents' home. He was 24 years of age and his birthplace as Haddington. He worked as a tailor.

William Haimes died in 1862. His death certificate recorded his age at death as 26 years. He was a tailor by occupation and unmarried. ^{1 2 3}

William's father, George Haimes, gave notice of his son's death before the registrar, Thomas Henderson, at Haddington on 27 November 1862. ¹
