"Leichestoun seems to have passed out of the hands of the Lesmoir Gordons at this date (1659), for the next laird, Patrick Gordon, brother of John Gordon of Balmade (murdered in 1660), seems to have been a son of Dr. Thomas Gordon, Elgin, who was subsequently laird of Edenville and then of Clashtirum, and who belonged to the family of Letterfourie."

Patrick Gordon was baillie for the 4th Marquess of Huntly in Badenoch and Lochaber, and was appointed Commissioner for Supply for Banffshire in 1685.

'The Valuation Rolls of the Sherriffdom of Banffe as they have been valued and certified by the Commrs appointed be the act of Parliat at Edgr the seaventh of June Imvy& and ninty years.

"Mr Fraser-Mackintosh cites the 'Register of Deeds of the Regality of Huntly,' consisting of 385 leaves, dated at Gordon Castle, October 20, 1685, noting that the deeds are not to be found in any public register ('Celtic Monthly' 1899). In the register of 1686 the following note occurs: \emdash
Note by Patrick Gordon (of Glastirim)\emdash That as he is empowered by the undernoted Commission to appoint deputies for registering and giving extracts of all papers mentioned in the said Commission, he ordains James Stewart, Nether
Boat of Spey, clerk to the Lordship of Gordon, to register and extract the same. He reserves power to appoint any other depute. He delivers to James Stewart."
