  Research Notes:

2ND LAIRD OF GLASTIRUM?

Presumably James, as eldest son, would have been the 2nd Laird of Glastirum, but resigned such a role on becoming a priest, making his brother, George, 3rd Laird.

Noted events in his life were:

1. returned: as missionary, 1692, To Scotland. 4 He was a 'missionary' because the Catholic Church had been dismantled at the time of the Reformation and its members outlawed, presumably as an early example of Christian fellowship on the part of the Church of Scotland. It is true that the only way this movement could lay claim to that title was by exiling or executing all who did not agree with its leaders.

2. Elected: coadjutor to Bishop Nicolson, 1702, Scotland. 4

3. Consecrated: Bishop of Nicopolis, April 1706, At Montefiascone. 4

4. Created: Vicar Apostolic, 1718, of Scotland. 4
