When Catherine Cornfield died in 1884, her recorded age at death was 75 years. Her death certificate recorded her as the widow of James Cornfield, coal miner. Both of her parents were deceased. ⁵

James Cornfield, Catherine's son, who had been present where the death occurred, was the informant of his mother's death.

Catherine married James CORNFIELD, son of Edward CORNFIELD and Agnes HILLON, in 1833 in County Monaghan, Ireland.¹ (James CORNFIELD was born in 1799 in Ireland ^{3 4} and died 4 March 1874 at 11.30 am in Fore Row, Blantyre Works, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was dysentery.
