CORNFIELD, John ¹

  General Notes:

In the death certificate of his daughter, Catherine, in 1883, John Cornfield was recorded as a coal pit labourer.

John married Catherine CAIN, daughter of Archibald KEANE and Jane LAVERTY, on 19 November 1857 in St Mary's RC Church, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Catherine CAIN was born about 1838 and died before 21 May 1875.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The witnesses were Thomas Branigan and Elizabeth O'Donnel. Both made their X mark.

John Cornfield was 20 years of age and worked as a mason's labourer. He lived at Sheilinghill, Hamilton. John made his X mark.

Catherine Cain also made her X mark. She was 19 years old and was a domestic servant. She lived at 12 New Street, Hamilton. Both of her parents were deceased.
