   Cause of his death was chronic myocardial degeneration and left ventricular failure over 4 days.2

  General Notes:

Robert was a boy of 6 when recorded by the 1871 census living with his family at 1 Milne Square Edinburgh, the city where he had been born. He was a scholar.

When the census of 1881 was taken Robert was living with his parents at 5 Brown Street, Edinburgh. He had been born in St Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh, and was recorded as 16 years old. He worked as a plumber.

In 1890 Robert, who had been present where the death occurred, was the informant of his father's death.

In 1891 Robert Nisbet was recorded by the census for Edinburgh living at 5 Brown Street, his family home which his sister, Eleanor, and her husband Henry McKeen, now ran, as pseudo parents, after the death of Alexander and Isabella Nisbet. Robert was 26 years old and worked as a plumber. He had been born in Edinburgh.

Robert Nisbet died in 1952 at the recorded age of 87 years. In his death certificate it was recorded that he had been a 'plumber (retired) widower of Janet Robertson'. His usual residence was also included since Robert had died in hospital. It was 30 Brunton Terrace Edinburgh. His parents were both dead of course. 2 3

D.E.W.Beattie MB ChB certified the cause of death.

Robert's son, Robert James Nisbet, of 104 Montgomery Street, Edinburgh, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar, J.L.Weir, at Broxburn on 13 March 1952.


Robert married Janet ROBERTSON, daughter of James ROBERTSON and Janet McMILLAN, in 1897 in Little Dunkeld, Perthshire, Scotland.1 (Janet ROBERTSON was born on 29 September 1868 in Little Dunkeld, Perthshire, Scotland 4 5 and died in 1936 in Canongate, Edinburgh, Scotland 4.)
