Jennet O'Brinn was a seven yearold living with her family near Airdrie when the 1841 census was taken. She had been born in Lanarkshire.

The 1851 census for New Monkland, Lanarkshire recorded Janet O'Brien living at Mill Row with her mother and 6 brothers and sisters. She was recorded as age 17 years and had been born in New Monkland parish. She was a cotton carder.

In 1861 the census for Airdrie recorded Jane O'Brien living with her family at 3 Mill Road. She was recorded as a cotton weaver of 26 years of age and had been born in Glasgow.

The census of 1871 recorded Jane Marrow living at 67 Johnston Street Airdrie in the parish of New Monkland. The household comprised Samuel Marrow, his wife Jane, his mother in law Mary O'Brien, and an Irish born visitor Margaret Kain, a widow aged 76 years.
