When Catherine Quin died in 1900 her death certificate recorded her as 24 years of age and 'married to John Vallely coalminer'. Both of her parents were still living. ^{2 3}

John Vallely, Catherine's husband who was present, gave notice of his wife's death before the registrar, William McGill, at Cleland on 28 December 1900. ³

Catherine married John VALLELY, son of Thomas VALLELY and Catharine QUIN, on 22 April 1897 in RC Chapel, Cleland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (John VALLELY was born 20 August 1867 at 6 pm in Greenhill, Shotts Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ⁴ and died on 5 January 1906 in Ashfield Place, Cleland, Lanarkshire, Scotland ^{4 5}.). The cause of his death was chronic nephritis; cerebral haemorrhage.³

John, a bachelor of 28, was a coal miner, of Wyndedge Farm West District of Shotts parish. His father, a coal miner too, was deceased and his mother still living.

Catherine was an unmarried woman of 21 from Cleland. She was a domestic servant. Both of her parents were living at the time of the marriage.

The marriage was registered on 24 April 1897 at Cleland, William Spence being the registrar. ¹
