She had been baptized, being in danger, by Mary McVae wife to William Quigley residing in Castle Douglas - Sponsors said Wm Quigley and Mary McVae - Both children at this time were nine weeks old"
Note: no priest's signature was included at the end of the extract, but from other sources it seems likely to have been Father Andrew Carruthers who resided at Munches House between 1800 and 1814 and fulfilled the duties of chaplain.
A Hugh Quigley was buried in St John's Churchyard Barrhead, Renfrewshire in January 1841. His age was noted in the Obituary list as 32 years, and 'Paisley' was written beside his name. His date of death was 28th January 1841. Another Hugh Quigley, a police officer, aged 29 years, was recorded along with other inmates and patients in the Town Hospital in Paisley Middle Parish by the 1841 census, and since the census was taken in June 1841, it would appear the one who died in January of that year was not Hugh the police officer. 1 2
