William Queen was the sponsor at the baptism of William, lawful son of John Queen and Ellen Vallaley, at St Margaret's RC Chapel, Airdrie on 3 July 1842. Mary Vallaley was the second sponsor.

The 1851 census for New Monkland recorded William Quin, an iron miner, as head of a household living at 27 Baird's Square in Rawyards, Airdrie, with his wife and five children. William had been born in Ireland and was aged 27 years.

In 1861 The census for New Monkland Landward recorded William Queen as head of a household of 9 people, including himself, his wife and their 7 children. The family were living at 2456 South East Farm and William worked as a coal miner. He had been born in Ireland and was recorded as 35 years of age.

In 1867 when his son William married, William senior was recorded as being a coal miner.

In his death certificate of 1869 William Quin was recorded as a coal miner married to Mary Vallely. His recorded age at death was 46 years. His father was deceased. 2 3 4 5 6 7

James Paterson, surgeon, certified the cause of death.

Thomas Quin, son of the deceased man, of Meadowhead, gave notice of his father's death before William Whyte, registrar, at Airdrie on October 20 1869 and made his X mark. 5


William married Mary VALLELY, daughter of William VALLELY and Bridget FLYNN, on 12 October 1840 in Dungannon parish, County Tyrone, Ireland.1 (Mary VALLELY was born in 1823 in Ireland 3 and died 19 April 1897 at 2.30 pm in Salsburgh, Parish of Shotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was apoplexy over 6 months.5
