Mary Vallaley was the sponsor at the baptism of William, lawful son of John Queen and Ellen Vallaley, at St Margaret's RC Chapel, Airdrie on 3 July 1842. William Queen was the second sponsor.

Mary Quin was aged 27 years, like her husband William, when recorded by the 1851 census for New Monkland. She lived at 27 Baird's Square Rawyards and had five children aged between 10 months and 9 years to care for. Mary was Irish born.

Mary Queen was recorded by the 1861 census living with her husband and 7 children at 2456 South East farm in the parish of New Monkland. Her children ranged in age from 3 to 18 years. Mary was Irish born and recorded as 32 years of age [ probably an underestimate].

Mary was recorded as aged 62 [ probably an underestimate] when she died in 1897. She was the widow of William Queen. Both of her parents were deceased by then. 4 6 7

John Lithgow MBCM certified the cause of death.

James Mooney, Mary's son in law, who was present, gave notice of her death before Alex. Paterson, registrar, at Shotts on April 19 1897 and made his X mark.


Mary married William QUINN, son of William QUINN and Mary O'BRIAN, on 12 October 1840 in Dungannon parish, County Tyrone, Ireland.1 (William QUINN was born in August 1822 in Gortin, Dungannon, County Tyrone, Ireland 4 6, baptised on 31 August 1822 in Dungannon parish, County Tyrone, Ireland 10 and died 19 October 1869 at 10.00 am in Cook's Land, Pollock Street, Rawyards, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3.). The cause of his death was bronchitis over 10 months.
