Thomas Quin was recorded by the 1851 census for New Monkland living at 27 Baird's Square in the Rawyards district of Airdrie. He was recorded as 9 years old and had been born in New Monkland parish.

Thomas Queen was recorded by the 1861 census for New Monkland living at South East farm with his family. He was the eldest child living there of 7 children. He had been born in New Monkland parish and was recorded as 18 years of age. He worked as a coal miner.
