The 1841 census for the parish of Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, recorded Mary William, with, presumably, her husband and family living at Bridgend of Glenkindie. Mary's mother, Elspet McHardy, also lived in the household. Mary was aged 35 years and had been born in Aberdeenshire. Her children were aged from 2 to 6 years.

In 1851 the census for Strathdon Parish in Aberdeenshire recorded Mary William living at Glenkindie with her husband, her four children aged from 14 years to 4 years, and her mother. Mary was recorded as 44 years of age. She was an overseer's wife. She had been born in the parish where she lived.

The cause of his death was exhaustion following constipation of the bowels over 1 week.
