  General Notes:

A 'Thomas Quine' was a witness at the marriage of Patrick Quine and Sarah McGelligan at St Margaret's RC Chapel Airdrie on 9 June 1851. The other sponsor was Agnes Henry.

Thomas Queen was recorded living with his family at New Dundyvan in the parish of Old Monkland by the 1841 census. He had been born in Ireland and was 10 years old.
Note: Of the children living together in this 1841 census entry, only Patrick and Thomas have not had baptismal certificates found for them so far in the Irish records.

On 26 November 1851 a 'Thomas Quin' was a witness at the marriage of John Broadley to Ann Hammel in St Margaret's RC Chapel Airdrie. the couple were married by Fr Duncan McNab abd the second witness was Mary Hammel.

In 1861 the census recorded Thomas and his family living at 3 Palacraig Offices, Old Monkland parish. Thomas was recorded as being 25 years of age and had been born in Ireland. He worked as an ironstone miner.

When Thomas died in 1883 his death certificate recorded him as aged 47 years. He had been married first to Ann McGuirk [sic], and then to Jane Weir. By occupation he was a coal miner. Both of his parents were deceased. 1 2 4 5 6 7

George Storer MB CM certified the cause of death.

John Quin of Coatdyke, son of the deceased, gave notice of his death before the registrar, Andrew Baird, at Calderbank on January 6 1883. 6


Thomas married Ann McGURK on 10 April 1853 in St Margaret's RC Church, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 2 (Ann McGURK was born in 1836 in Ireland 4.)


  Marriage Notes:

Fr Duncan McNab married this couple. The witnesses were John Devlin and Margaret Quin.

The earlier date recorded in the IGI was probably the banns of marriage, although it does include the fact that at least one of the couple resided at Rawyards Airdrie. 2

Thomas next married Jane WEIR on 5 February 1866 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Jane WEIR was born about 1835.)
