The census of 1841 recorded James Queen living with his family and a family of Kennedys (parents Cathrine and John and children Margaret and Mary) at New Dundyvan in the parish of Old Monkland. James was aged in the 35-39 years range and had been born in Ireland. He worked as an iron miner.

James was a coal miner according to the death certificate of his son Thomas in 1883. 2 4


James married Margaret HUGHES on 4 July 1825 in Dungannon parish, County Tyrone, Ireland.1 (Margaret HUGHES was born in 1804 in Ireland 4 and died before January 1883.)
