The 1861 census for Palacecraig Offices in Old Monkland parish recorded Ann Quin with her husband and four children. Ann was recorded as aged 24 years and had been born in Ireland. ³

Ann married Thomas QUIN, son of James QUIN (DNA Link) and Margaret HUGHES, on 10 April 1853 in St Margaret's RC Church, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.^{1 2} (Thomas QUIN was born in 1833 in Ireland ^{3 5} and died 6 January 1883 at 0.30 am in Canal Row, Palacecraig, East District Old Monkland Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ⁶.). The cause of his death was phtisis over 2 months.

Fr Duncan McNab married this couple. The witnesses were John Devlin and Margaret Quin.

The earlier date recorded in the IGI was probably the banns of marriage, although it does include the fact that at least one of the couple resided at Rawyards Airdrie. ²
