John Gibson was an iron miner, according to the marriage certificate of his son, Thomas, in 1862. He was deceased by then.

In the death certificate of his son, Thomas, in 1876 John was recorded as an iron miner. ^{2 3}

John married Mary STEVENSON on 12 April 1829 in High Church Parish, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland.¹ (Mary STEVENSON was born about 1810 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland and died in 1885 in Ayrshire, Scotland ^{2 3 4}.)
