Arthur Quigley was recorded as aged 3 months by the 1860 US census for Washington Territory where he lived with his family at Lake River in Clark County. He had been born in Washington Territory.

The 1870 census for Multnomah County, Oregon recorded Arthur Quickly living with his family in Portland. He was 10 years of age and had been born in Washington Territory. He was 'at home' and not in any occupation. He had attended school within the year.
Arthur Quickley was the eldest of the children of James and Jane Quickley living at home with them in Willamette Slough, Multnomah County, Oregon according to the 1880 US Census. He was 20 years old, single and a labourer. He had been born in Washington Territory.

A.J. Quigley, aged 24 years, was recorded along with W. J. Quigley, aged 23 years, probably his brother William Joseph, and both labourers born in Washington Territory, by the 1885 Washington State and Territorial Census. They were residing in Union.

In 1900 the US census for Clifton, Oregon, recorded A. J. Quigley, his wife Lydie A. Quigley, and their son Walter, living as boarders in the household of James Copeland. A. J. Quigley was 40 years old, born in February 1860 in Washington. His father's birthplace was, inaccurately, recorded as Ireland - although he was of Irish ancestry. His mother's birthplace was correctly recorded as Scotland.

In 1920 the US census recorded Arthur J. Quigley living with his wife Winnie at 1481 East Glisson Street in Portland, Oregon. Also living with the couple was Arthur's stepdaughter Wilma F. Heavner, aged 17 years. Arthur was recorded as 59 years old and born in Washington US. His parents had both been born in Scotland. He was a steam shovel engineer.

In 1930 the US census recorded Arthur J. Quigley living at 1183 Burrage Street in Portland Oregon, as owner of a home valued at $3500. he was recorded as 70 years old, single, and had been born in Washington, US. he worked as a stationary engineer in connection with steam shovels.
