HAMES George and Isabella Muat had a son on 26th June and baptized on 18th July named John witnesses John Thomson and Thomas Muat"

In 1841 the census for St John's Haddington East Lothian recorded John Haimes living in Church Street with his mother and siblings, Thomas, Charles and Jean. John was placed in the 15-19 years age category and had been born in the county in which he was living. Like his two elder brothers he was a bootmaker by trade.

In the 1851 census for Haddington in East Lothian John Haimes was recorded living with his mother Isabella Haimes at St Ann's Place. John was recorded as 28 years of age and working as a shoemaker. He had been born in Haddington.

John was recorded by the 1861 census for Haddington living on the south side of High Street. He was recorded as aged 39 years and a shoemaker.

John Haimes was found dead in his own home at High Street Haddington in 1866. His death certificate recorded him as a shoemaker by occupation and a single man. His age at death was recorded as 44 years. Both of his parents were deceased. 1 2 3 4 5

  Medical Notes:

George Haimes, brother of the deceased, gave notice of John's death before the registrar, Thomas Kemp, at Haddington on July 30 1866. 2
