Agnes was mentioned in her father's claim for parish relief in 1902. She was aged 9 years and had been born in Cadzow (Hamilton) parish. She was with her aunt Helen, Mrs Maxwell, at 57 Muirpark Rows, Uddingston.

In 1905 her father again applied for relief, this time from Govan Combination. Agnes was listed as the youngest of his children: 'Agnes 13'. Again she was noted as being born in Cadzow and as living with her aunt, Mrs Maxwell.
